The media about startups in Portugal
Today is April 11, 2024. You're reading Thursday edition of Startupt
Hello! My name is Sergei (my LinkedIn), I live in Lisbon and I'm the founder of Startupt.co. With over 20 years of experience in the news media industry, I aim to leverage this knowledge to establish Startupt.co as a premier news outlet about startups in Portugal. Today marks a significant milestone for me as we release the first edition of our newsletter focused on Portugal's startup ecosystem. In summary, we will publish a weekly newsletter highlighting the most significant, intriguing, and exciting news from the industry here.
There are two editions of Startupt: Monday's edition will spotlight a specific startup, offering an in-depth look (next Monday, for example, we will discuss my friend Tony Oreglia’s startup, Jumble – stay tuned!); Thursday's edition will recap the past week's news. Thus today’s issue includes extensive coverage of Portuguese startups, VCs, incubators, and other startup-related news in Portugal. We also select and recommend events, focusing only on the most impactful and beneficial ones. Additionally, we'll share tools essential for running a startup. We hope you find each issue filled with valuable insights.
Before we dive into the news, two more things: First, we encourage you to share your news with us through the following forms: news about funding, general startup updates, and news from venture capitalists and incubators. Second, we need your support. If you appreciate our newsletter and our mission to create a dedicated news platform for the startup ecosystem in Portugal, please share our site — startupt.co — with your friends and colleagues. We believe in creating a media platform that is closely connected with its audience and aim to build just that here. With that said, I hope you enjoy the content. See you on Monday, and thank you for subscribing.

This drop mirrors a global downturn, with Portugal grappling with stiff competition from Spain, France, and the UK for investment and talent. PitchBook data further illuminates this trend, showing a global venture capital investment decline to €70.09 billion, the lowest since 2017.
